Winter in Winnipeg

Hey There Delilah,

We were so happy to have Clawdeen visit us on her journey back home to Brooklyn, New York. She’s getting closer and closer to returning home to you!

While Clawdeen stayed with us in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, it was very, VERY cold! I had to quickly make her some winter outerwear so she would be able to go outside and see some local attractions!

Image

Clawdeen was very excited to see the huge mountain of snow near my house, she climbed the mountain and had her photo taken with the Canadian Flag. Have you ever seen the Canadian flag before?

Image

Tuxedo Ken was delighted to have Clawdeen visit us! He was eager to take her for a ride in his convertible, however, Clawdeen was very cold! The ride was short because it was just too cold to be outside any longer. We decided to go indoors for supper.

Image

We had pizza for supper that night! Clawdeen was so excited because she was starving. She wolfed it down and was delightfully full!

Image

Later that evening, Clawdeen and the Barbies went to a fancy party! There was a disco ball and flashing lights! Clawdeen felt like she was on top of the world, but in fact, she was just on top of the disco ball!

Image

You are going to be so excited to hear who was at the party!!! TROY from High School Musical! *SCREEEEAAAAMMMM* Clawdeen met him and she was super excited and she can’t wait for you to see her celebrity photo! Isn’t he CUTE!?!

That night, she went over to Barbie’s house to have a sleepover. She thought it would be a nice idea to write you a letter.

While asleep in Barbie’s soft and cozy bed, Clawdeen had a dream she was at a dinosaur museum! She was wondering if you have ever gone to a museum that had dinosaur bones or fossils.

The next morning, we woke up early because we had so much to do. First, we thought it would be a good idea to do some school work since she had been away so long. Clawdeen practised printing her name…

Image

…and she did some fine motor skills, placing coins on the circles and then flipping them over. Clawdeen wanted me to make her a purple heart to work on, because she thought you would like it very much!

Image

Next we went to the hair salon. Clawdeen is getting all ready to see you soon! She though her hair need a good combing, a color touch up and a trim!

Clawdeen was interested in seeing some buildings in downtown Winnipeg. We headed toward an area called the Forks, where two rivers meet.

Image

First we went to the Manitoba Legislative Building. we took a picture at the side of the building instead of the front. Do you like the lovely trees? Do you see the golden statue on top of the building? It is called The Golden Boy. He was actually removed from the building a few years ago and repainted with special real gold paint! Now he is nice and shiny again!

Image

The next building we stopped at was the Human Rights Museum, which is still under construction. Once completed, it is supposed to be a world class museum, just like the big fancy ones in New York City! Maybe one day you will come to Winnipeg to see this museum!

Image

Finally, we were headed back home. Inside a cemetery, just past the Human Rights Museum, Clawdeen saw this old building with a big circular hole in it! She wondered what it was, so I pulled over and we checked it out. It was the remains of the St. Boniface Cathedral. It used to be a big fancy church, but there was a big fire and this is what remains. Clawdeen thought is was very pretty. I told her that people like to get their wedding pictures taken there!

Image

We were almost home when we passed a junkyard where Clawdeen saw a great big snow tractor. She wanted to get a closer look. We stopped for a picture, but she was a little disappointed that she couldn’t ride in it. She cheered up when I said that I would put her on the steps. The snow was very deep and I fell over into it, but I kept Clawdeen safe!

Image

Suddenly, across the street we saw some big orange Hydro trucks with buckets way up high! We went to see what the men were doing. They were fixing something attached to the Hydro poles. It was a dangerous area, so we had to stay back to stay safe. Did you know that the province of Manitoba sells Hydro electricity to the United States? “Hydro” means water power. I wonder if any of our electricity comes to you in New York?

Clawdeen was getting tired and cold from all the snow and adventures, so we got back in the car and headed home.

She got one final snuggle from my boy’s favourite dog and then we sent her on to the next home as she travels back to you Delilah.

Thank you for allowing us to take good care of your doll and we hope you have her in you loving hands soon!

Love and Hugs from Ramona Niemczyk and family
